Exterior painters in Great Yarmouth
Exterior painting that starts with the surface
Exterior paint has a harder life than interior paint. Sun, rain, wind and, near the coast, salty air all test a coating, so the condition of each surface matters before any colour is chosen.
We start by looking at what is there: flaking or failing paint, hairline cracks, bare timber and areas that stay damp. Not every building needs the same treatment, and we explain what we recommend and why. Decorating is not structural repair, and fresh paint is not a cure for damp, so if something needs another trade first we will say so.
We also take enquiries from Gorleston-on-Sea, Caister-on-Sea and Lowestoft, and from the towns and villages around them.

How we work
How we plan and carry out exterior painting
1
Assess
We look at the surface, its condition and how it is exposed, and note any access needs such as ladders or scaffolding.
2
Prepare
Loose and flaking paint is removed, surfaces are cleaned and decorative repairs made, and bare areas are primed.
3
Coat
Products are chosen to suit the surface and the exposure. Work is planned around the weather, because exterior painting depends on dry conditions.

Before you choose a colour
Look at the surface first, then choose the coating
The right coating depends on what it is going on. We assess the surface, its condition and how exposed it is, and explain our recommendation before any work starts.

What affects the cost of exterior decorating
Each property is different, so quotes follow an assessment. These are the main factors.
- The size and height of the property
- The condition of the existing paint and surfaces
- How much preparation or minor repair is needed
- Access: ladders, towers or scaffolding
- The type of surface and the coating needed
- Time of year and how the work fits around the weather
FAQs
Exterior painting and decorating FAQs
Straight answers to the questions we are asked most often.
Still have a question?Call us or send the details and we will answer it, usually while talking through your job.
What happens if the weather is unsuitable?
Exterior painting needs dry conditions, so work can move if the weather turns. We agree how that will be handled when we plan the job rather than promising a fixed finishing date.
Is access equipment included?
It depends on the property. Low-level work may need only ladders, while higher areas can need a tower or scaffolding. We discuss access when we assess the job and explain what is, or is not, included.
Which surfaces can you paint?
Tell us what you have: render, masonry, timber, metal or something else. We will say whether we can take it on and what preparation and coating we would recommend.
What preparation is needed?
Usually cleaning, removing loose or flaking paint, filling minor defects and priming bare areas. If a surface shows signs of damp or structural damage, we will tell you that needs attention from another trade first.
