Decorators in Great Yarmouth

Interior decorating that starts with the preparation

A good interior finish depends on what happens before the paint goes on. Walls are checked for cracks, marks and old paint, woodwork is cleaned and prepared, and furniture and floors are protected.

Whether you want one room refreshed, tired woodwork renewed or several rooms done together, Academy Property Services can help. What you move beforehand, and what we handle, is agreed when we assess the job.

We also take enquiries from Gorleston-on-Sea, Caister-on-Sea and Lowestoft, and from the towns and villages around them.

How we work

How we paint and decorate your rooms

1

Protect

Furniture, floors and fittings are covered, and what you need to move beforehand is agreed in advance.

2

Prepare

Surfaces are cleaned, filled and sanded where needed so the finish coats go on a sound base. Preparation is often the biggest part of the job.

3

Finish

We talk through colours and finish types such as matt, silk, eggshell and gloss, and which suits each room, for example harder-wearing paint in a hallway.

Why preparation matters

The finish you see is decided by the preparation you do not

Good preparation is what keeps edges sharp and paint looking right for longer. We talk it through before we start, so you know what to expect.

Pricing

What affects the cost of interior decorating

We do not work from a price list, because every room is different. Your quote follows an assessment, and these are the main factors.

  1. The number and size of the rooms
  2. The condition of walls, ceilings and woodwork
  3. How much preparation or repair is needed
  4. Colour changes and the number of coats required
  5. Access, furniture and whether the rooms are occupied
  6. Whether you supply the paint or we do

FAQs

Interior painting and decorating FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we are asked most often.

Still have a question?Call us or send the details and we will answer it, usually while talking through your job.

Can you decorate just one room?

Yes. You can enquire about a single room or a few surfaces as well as a whole property. Tell us what you have in mind and we will say what is practical.

Is preparation included?

Preparation is part of how a job is planned and priced, not an afterthought. What is needed depends on the surfaces, and we explain it when we assess the work.

Can I supply the paint?

Mention it when you get in touch. Whether it suits the job depends on the paint, the surfaces and the finish you want, and we will talk it through before agreeing the work.

How are drying times and access planned?

Drying times depend on the paint, the room and the conditions, so we do not promise fixed completion dates before seeing the job. Access, timing and which rooms stay in use are agreed when we discuss the work.
