Wallpapering with the preparation and the pattern done properly

Wallpaper shows every flaw in the wall behind it. Old paper, cracks, uneven plaster and bare patches all need dealing with before a new paper goes up, which is why wall preparation is as much a part of the job as the hanging.

Patterned paper adds another layer: the match has to run true across each drop, around windows and at corners. Where a pattern is large or the room is awkward, we talk through how it will be set out before work starts. We can also help with practical points such as how much paper to order and whether the walls need lining first.

We also take enquiries from Gorleston-on-Sea, Caister-on-Sea and Lowestoft, and from the towns and villages around them.

How we work

How we hang wallpaper

1

Check the wall

We look at the surface behind the paper, including any old paper, flaking paint, cracks or damp patches.

2

Prepare

Old paper is removed where needed, walls are repaired and sanded, and lining paper is discussed where it will help the finish.

3

Hang and match

Drops are set out so the pattern runs true, seams are kept tidy, and the room is left clean.

Chosen your wallpaper? Tell us about the room and we will talk through the job.

Behind every good paper

Wallpaper shows every flaw in the wall behind it

That is why we look at the wall first. Repairs, lining and a sound surface are what let a good paper hang flat and last.

Pricing

What affects the cost of wallpapering

A quote follows an assessment of the room. These are the main factors.

  1. The size of the walls and the number of rooms
  2. The type of paper and how large the pattern repeat is
  3. Whether old paper needs removing
  4. The condition of the walls and any lining needed
  5. Awkward areas such as stairwells, alcoves and sloping ceilings
  6. Whether you supply the paper or we arrange it

FAQs

Wallpapering FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we are asked most often.

Still have a question?Call us or send the details and we will answer it, usually while talking through your job.

Can you hang wallpaper I have already bought?

Yes, you can ask us to hang paper you have chosen. Tell us what it is and how much you have, and we will say whether it suits the walls and the job.

Can you remove old wallpaper?

Removing existing paper can be part of the job. How long it takes depends on the type of paper and what is under it, so we look at it before quoting.

How much paper do I need?

It depends on the size of the walls and the pattern repeat, so we do not give a standard number of rolls. Measure if you can, or ask us to check before you order.

Do the walls need lining first?

Not always. Lining paper can help where walls are uneven or marked, and we will say whether we recommend it once we have seen the surface.
